We have been writing this blog for a couple of purposes: 1) to inform family and friends of our preparations for this trip, and our (mis)daventures when we finally leave; and 2) to maybe make a little money to help put a dent in our gas bill. Our expectations are very low, and so far, we are meeting them.
We have been writing here, as well as on Examiner and HubPages. So far, we have earned $25.30 on Examiner and I earned my first $0.01 on HubPages. I suspect that we could make more money picking up aluminum cans on the side of the road during our travels. This blog has cost far more than is has earned. We have a friend that just returned from a similar adventure, and her blog was aimed almost exclusively at acquaintances.
In all seriousness, we are hoping to tell the story of how we endure and survive this trip. We plan to cover not only where we visit, but what it takes to get us there. I have been learning all sorts of new things, like watts, volts and amp-hours. And now I have been learning new blogging terms like SEO, CPM and PPC. I have no doubt we will make some minor and major mistakes, and I hope someone finds them entertaining, We will try to post daily, and our only limitations are time and technology.
