There are four people and one dog in our RV. When the slide out is pushed out, this gives us about 250 square feet of living space. This is tight living, but I guess everything is relative. We were in Banff the other day and two buses pulled in, which put things in perspective. The first was a family of three traveling in a Prevost, basically a bus conversion. It was about 42 feet long and had four slide-outs, probably giving about 500 feet of living space.
The other was the bus in the photo.
This is the Rotel bus. The bus generated a lot of attention and we stopped by to ask them a few questions. Believe it or not, there were 26 people traveling on this bus (mostly Germans) and they were headed from Alaska back down into the US. Take a look at the photo and note that each one of the small windows in the rear are for one sleeping bunk.
In terms of square footage, each person gets a seat in the front and coffin-like bunk to sleep in at night. That’s it. I think that a month not the Rotel bus would be longer than a year in our 31-foot Winnebago.
