Some brewpubs are for the tourists. Some are restaurants with brewing operations. The vibe coming from the Bozeman Brewing Company was that this was a hangout for locals.
It was a warm sunny Friday and people were seeking this place out. Like many breweries in Montana, BBC offered only beer and not much in the way of food. No worries, I was here to fill the growler. BBC is located well off the downtown area, past a residential neighborhood and into an industrial zone. The building is nondescript, although I knew that I was in the right place based on the amount of people coming and going.
I really like places like this. Bozeman has a large college-age population and in close proximity to the mountains means that the outdoor-types are here as well. The tasting room was packed with both crowds, who had skipped the downtown scene to come here. They were here for the beer.
As I said, it was a hot day and the bartender recommended the wheat beer. Part of me thought this beer was actually pretty good, the other part wanted to sample more. So i tried their pilsner. That hit the spot. Like most pilsners, the beer was very much on the light side. But this lighter beer had flavor and went down great in the hot weather. Why cant the big brewers make a pilsner that tastes like this?
We stayed by a lake, watched the fire while the sun went down, and drained the growler.

Cheers from Molalla!
Cheers! We are in the Tetons now and enjoying it!
